Projector Painting Tutorial

So I wasn't going to post this but Jacob thought it'd make a good post, so I'm going to ruin some of the mystery behind the paintings I've been doing for church. In defense of how easy this is about to look I did free hand the first one... This is just faster.

First, getting the kids to bed or otherwise occupied which is arguably the most difficult part. Then I get everything looking they way I want it to on the computer. For these banners I've mostly used the font Mael from dafont.com but I've had to use a couple of others to get the first letter to look the way I want. This banner also has "over darkness" done in "impact".

Then I trace it onto a gallon ziplock bag using a fine point sharpie

I originally used dry erase markers but I get better precision this way and when I'm done I just toss the bag back in the kitchen for leftovers or something later. If I had transparencies I could just print it out but this is free.

Once I'm happy with it, I use an overhead projector I got on ebay specifically for this and transfer the letters onto the craft paper using a black sharpie since I'll be using black paint.

Once that's done It looks like this...

Then I lay the whole thing on my kitchen table and carefully paint in all the lines. I could do it on the wall but this way drips are less likely.

That's it! Then I get it to the church in time and hope it looks okay from the back of the auditorium.
