Cherry Blossom Festival

This day is from a couple of months ago but I wasn't blogging then so I'm posting it now :)

This is our 2nd year in the D.C. Area during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Last year we missed it because it rained a lot and by the time we thought about going there were no flowers so we didn't. This year Jacob was away at training and while I was going to wait till he got back it was supposed to rain so I decided to fly solo and take the boys by myself.

Our Cherry Blossom Adventure!

I leave Speech Therapy and after a very long mental debate decide to go for it. I swing by the house and grab cute clothes for the boys to change into when we get there and drive to the festival because I'm hoping James will take a nap on the way... How convenient right?

Drive down to D.C and snake through traffic for about an hour... Almost to the parking lot I take a wrong turn and get sucked onto the interstate. Forget it, I'm going home and taking the metro because I will not be defeated.

Get home, change the boys clothes debate going tomorrow instead then think about how tomorrow is Saturday and how many people may be on the mall... and so we get on the metro.

The trip... Uneventful. We arrive and step out into the approximately 8 bagillion people who also though coming on a Friday was a good idea... It's at this moment when I realize I don't have Caleb's RoadID... My plan starts to prove itself to be the impulsive fool hearty crazy idea that it was.

But it's lunch time and we're already there... We will eat, we will take pictures, we will go home.

We eat, we take pictures and I start to relax because nothing has gone wrong. It's amazing how much eating on the grass makes everything seem fine and dandy sometimes. So we walk around the basin for a while and really get to take in all the beauty... It was awesome.

We walk till I start to get tired, hop of the metro and head home victorious with both fond memories, gorgeous pictures and nothing going wrong except that silly "let's drive" detour I took at the begining.

Sitting on the metro I notice that Caleb's hands are looking kinda red... And bumpy... Hmmmm apparently he got into something, the good news is he was wearing long sleeves. It's okay, I'll make sure he gets a bath first thing.

We get back to the car about half an hour later and I strap the boys in... They're both a little cranky but honestly I'm impressed with everyone. I strap myself in and feel my nose start to run... So I reach my hand up to my nose and realize nope... I've got my first nose bleed... I google what to do because I know you're supposed to apply pressure and leave either forward or back or not lean but I don't know which (forward).

Caleb wants to know why we're just sitting in the parking garage meanwhile it takes FOREVER to get my nose under control... I blame all the nature.

Finally get it to stop, finally get home, I'm a mess, Caleb still needs a bath, I pick up James and my hand gets covered in warm wet thick... You guess it, and it's all over him, me and the car seat. Poop explosion.

The good news is we got the pictures I wanted and Jacob got back two days later so with a little luck nothing like this will happen again anytime soon.
