Well no sooner did I report for duty at PMT than was I placed in a group leadership position. This PMT is 350 soldiers strong and Im in charge of 88 of them. We organized our group into three different sections, so what Im experiencing is something resembling company command, but without all the logistics and background requirement inherent to a training rotation.
Thankfully I have a highly competent NCO who Im working well with and have three other lieutenants to organize into Platoon leadership positions. I've already had the oppurtunity to reccomend my soldiers for awards, counsel a soldier and help him with some career development issues, and manage three distinct sections. I am tasked with leading my group and ensuring we meet all trainig requirements here at Camp Swift before we report to our mobilization platform at Ft Lewis. Tomorrow we train Up Armor Humvee Familiarization and Rollover Escape lanes. Should be a fun one. S2 out.
