Deployment

This year for Christmas, I got a memorable gift, a letter from a new Commander, informing me of a pending Unit transfer and Mobilization.

I will be part of a Division Staff Deploying in support of the Government of Iraq in December 2010.

We will be moving to our Mobilization Platform for final briefing, equipping and train-up to go Overseas at Ft. Lewis, WA in October of 2010.

Before then, we have several sessions of Pre-Mobilization Training and Staff Training. This will be a ride.

My prayer leaving Ft. Huachuca was that I would be enabled to secure Active Duty via a conditional release from the Texas Army National Guard. Lord this isn't exactly what I had in mind. Yet again, your plans are above and beyond mine and your ways are beyond what I can grasp.

I spent all my effort and time networking and requesting my chain of command for a favor, a back door, a release from my obligation to the Guard, when I should've just asked you and waited on your answer. How little is my faith, how big you are.

Proverbs 16:9 reads "The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps."

As much as this news throws me for a loop, I can rest in the fact that the Author of Life knows, beyond what I know, what is good for my wife and unborn child, and he loves me more than I can fathom.
