Mount Vernon

We finally made it out to Mount Vernon… I was kinda hoping for a pumpkin patch but in my search ran across Mount Vernon's Fall Harvest Family Days. While they didn't have pumpkins I couldn't resist the old fashion charm.

There was all the usual George Washington Vernon goodness as well as a hay bale maze, corn husk doll making, and a reenactment of ol' George himself.

When we arrived I instantly regretted not dressing warmer… it was very very cold and I seriously considered bailing on the whole plan but was too embarrassed to quit for such a silly reason, luckily for me as the day wore on it got slightly more bearable.

I'm sorry to say we didn't really take pictures that show off the Harvest Day fun but we did snag lots of cute pictures of the kiddos.

I think we decided this was either an outhouse or a storage shed, I honestly don't remember, but it was suuuuper cute so I don't really care if it was an outhouse. This picture actually became part of our Christmas gift for our Speech Therapist Miss 'issa.

Oh and there were cute animals too! And we got to learn all about George Washington's questing beast the "living fence". He dreamed of making hedges so thick that they kept out all the rabbits… apparently he wasn't successful, which I think is a little sad.

And we found this AMAZING tree off one of the trails… unfortunately right after taking this picture Caleb decided the tree was scary and so doesn't like this picture at all.

There were also some ponies to pet and a horse drawn wagon rides.

The wagon ride was basically awesome… although by the time we partook James was completely fed up with the whole idea.

We said several times that we hope we get to go back a bunch… so far we haven't but fingers crossed.
