Care & Recovery

We have been blessed with the care of our family and friends over this journey. Our felt needs have been consistently met over the past 48 hours and we're thankful.

Our thanks go out to our Grace Covenant Small group, for dinner and installing our carseat, as well as for paving the way for our little guy's homecoming.

Thanks to Chelsea for retrieving our breast pump which got left home.

Thanks to Candace for coming early and often and for yummy milkshakes.

Thanks to my sweet sister for providing us with her Snuggle Nest for the time period before our Pack & Play arrives.

Thanks for all the love and visits yesterday. That's alot of love guys.

As an update on Caleb and Mom, approximately 2 hours after birth the hospital staff pulled Caleb away for monitoring of his blood oxygen levels. As rapid as his delivery was, he was in a little 'transition state' as the doctors described it, where his breathing was quick, short, and labored, accompanied with a little groan. 'Singing Baby' syndrome, as we also heard it described. As a result, he wasn't getting all of the oxygen exchange he needed. They monitored him with supplemental oxygen until approximately 1300 yesterday, when they stepped down his dosage to zero and returned him to our room with a monitor and since then he's done just fine.

Today's issue seems to be blood sugar levels. Caleb has had trouble getting the hang of nursing, and this morning the Pediatrician supplemented his intake with some formula until Mom's milk comes in. So we're hanging out, resting and checking blood sugar levels periodically.
